RICP

The Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designation is awarded to financial advisors with advanced training in retirement income planning. It shows that an advisor has specialized knowledge to help clients turn savings into sustainable income throughout retirement, while following high professional and ethical standards.

WHY IS THE RICP® DIFFERENT?

Most advisors focus on helping clients build wealth. Retirement brings a different challenge — making that wealth last. An RICP® advisor is trained in strategies such as Social Security timing, pension and annuity choices, portfolio drawdowns, and healthcare planning. This expertise helps clients enjoy a secure and confident retirement.

EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must have at least three years of professional experience in financial services before they can use the RICP® designation.

EXAM:

To earn the RICP®, candidates must pass three proctored examinations covering retirement income strategies, Social Security and Medicare planning, pensions and annuities, estate and legacy planning, and healthcare considerations.

CONTINUING COMPETENCY:

RICP® professionals must complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years to stay current on laws, strategies, and best practices.
